The Foundation of the Alliance for Women in Media proudly announces a strategic alliance with the Ford Motor Company Fund--the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company--that will deliver innovative learning tools about pioneering American women to underprivileged middle schools across the country through the Alliance for Women in Media Empowering America program.
Under the partnership, Ford Motor Company Fund will support the development of educational collateral based on the Alliance for Women in Media Empowering America initiative, a public service campaign that profiles inspiring women who have blazed trails in a range of areas, including science, literature, social reform, public service, sports, broadcasting, music and aviation. As part of this alliance with Ford Motor Company Fund, Alliance for Women in Media will team up with the National Middle School Association (NMSA) to put ancillary materials in the hands of teachers to stimulate and enhance classroom conversations about these female icons.
This year, thanks to Ford Motor Company Fund's generosity, Alliance for Women in Media will develop up to 20,000 high-quality booklets, as well as artisan-quality posters and teaching guidelines-all designed to complement the Empowering America radio campaign. These materials will be donated to public middle schools in ten cities across the country, meaning thousands of middle school students will be exposed to the true stories of American women who have made a difference.

In April of 2002, The Foundation of Alliance for Women in Media unveiled a Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign entitled Alliance for Women in Media Empowering America. This inspiring campaign touches the hearts of radio listeners while conveying an important oral education about the history of pioneering American women.
The Alliance for Women in Media Empowering America spots feature American female icons who have blazed trails in diverse areas such as public service, science, social reform, sports, literature, broadcasting, music and aviation. The spots highlight recognizable individuals, such as Betsy Ross, Sandra Day O'Connor and Audrey Hepburn, as well as women who have made a difference in our world, but whose names are relatively unknown, such as Gertrude Elion. Each vignette focuses on an individual woman by telling, in compelling and emotional fashion, her personal story of empowerment and success.
Alliance for Women in Media Empowering America was elected to the 2003 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives. The prestigious Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward with innovative projects in education, skills training, citizenship and community services.
