About the Alliance for Women in Media
The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) is a non-profit, professional organization of women and men who work in the media and allied fields.
Our Mission
The mission of the Alliance for Women in Media is to advance the impact of women in the media and allied fields by educating, advocating and acting as a resource to our members, the industry, and the public.

- Work to improve the quality of the media;
- Promote the entry, development and advancement of women in the media and allied fields;
- Serve as a medium of communication and idea exchange; and
- Become involved in community concerns.
Our History
The Alliance for Women in Media was formed in 1951 as successor to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) women's division. NAB voted approval of the new organization, offering complete cooperation and assistance. The following year, more than 280 women gathered to celebrate and approve the structure of the Alliance for Women in Media.
